PARISH FOCUS
At the end of June we look forward to our annual visit to Rachel Ollard`s
lovely home and the service of even-song and benediction in beautiful Wold
Newton church. Walsingham
A joyous occasion was had by all at our day pilgrimage to this holy shrine.
It was good that a number of new people were able to participate in the pilgrimage
for the first time and were so moved by the presence in the Holy house. There
will be our October devotion in honour of Our Lady of Walsingham on Sunday,
the 19 th of October, at the 10.30 parish mass with the taking of the waters,
anointing and laying on of hands.
Organ Fund
After our organist`s letter last month we are launching an organ appeal and
we hope to have the instrument completely restored and given an 'oil-change',
as Ian has called it, ready for our centenary in 2011.
Barry Whitfield and Friends
At the time of writing we are looking forward to this very special concert
by a very talented musician, Barry, who will be playing classical organ music
and his very fine and professional jazz trio, which includes himself, of course,
will be performing
.
Corpus Christi
It all went swimmingly with an excellent sermon by Father Edward Martin, a
goodly number of visitors and a smashing tea-party and, never to be forgotten,
the children scattering the petals on the floor and picking them up to re-scatter
them. If that is not an example of re-cycling, I don`t know what is!
Society of Mary at Croft
By the time you read this magazine we will have visited the lovely village
of Croft near Wainfleet for our Society of Mary joint venture. This country
church has enormous statue of Our Lady of Walsingham and is a most agreeable
venue for such a pilgrimage.
Christian Aid
Thank you to all those who took part and supported it. It raised £290.
Women`s Fellowship
Their coffee-morning raised £150 for RNLI. Again, thanks to all those
who supported it.
Treasure Hunt
At the time of writing we are looking forward to the Treasure Hunt, which
we have never had before in our parish. A resume will appear in the next edition
of the magazine. What fabulous scenery we have in the Wolds!
Wold Newton
At the end of June we look forward to our annual visit to Rachel Ollard`s
lovely home and the service of even-song and benediction in beautiful Wold
Newton church
